Hello, I'm Charles.
Charles Bower
Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate
Supervised by Kristin King, MA, LPC-S
The negative stigma about seeking counseling or therapy is coming to an end and rightfully so. People are starting to understand the benefits of gaining insight into who they are and how they interact with others especially in such a diverse society with differing views on just about every topic. Gaining insight starts with just a conversation and continues throughout the process of working together to discover those insights while acquiring tools that work for you. The direction and content of the conversation is directed by you. My purpose is to walk alongside you as we work together.
My passion is relationships of all kinds. I have been working with people dealing with relationship issues, both professionally and personally, for several years and still see the potential in every relationship to not only survive, but to thrive. I also have experience with biblical and Christian counseling, which is also a passion of mine. However, I do not impose my beliefs on any client and have successfully navigated working with clients of varying world views and spiritual beliefs.
There are many theories and techniques used in counseling and more are developed as the world of counseling becomes more specialized. I believe this will only benefit clients as continued research reveals the workings of the human mind. My approach to counseling is based on theoretical concepts from Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) as well as research and framework based on the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman. Additionally, there are some wonderful techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that have shown to have positive outcomes for a wide range of issues facing clients.
Whether you are experiencing problems in your relationships or facing individual challenges, we are here to help walk alongside you. But perhaps you just want to learn more about who you are or want to know how to have the best relationships possible to avoid some of the issues that may happen. Now is the time to start that conversation.
Sometimes finding the right counselor is simply a matter of finding someone who has training and experience in the particular area you are looking for but sometimes finding the right fit in a counselor can be more challenging.
